The date says the 8th, but this is really from yesterday, the 7th. Didn't have internet, but am now sitting in a Starbucks!
The Lord has graciously kept us safe on another leg of our trip. For that we are thankful!
We again woke up bright and early, ate some breakfast, and started off. I began driving today, and despite how tired I was, made it my three hours, before handing it over to Jason. We stopped in Spokane, WA and heated up some leftovers for a mid-morning snack (another time change occurred as we crossed into Idaho, we are now two hours behind most of you). Again, God’s amazing handiwork showed in all the beautiful scenery today. As Jason drove, I took a much needed nap. We stopped off at a few scenic overlooks and really took in the sights. Before getting to those sights though, eastern Washington was nothing like I expected. It was almost desert-like, and rather boring to drive through. We then climbed our way through the Cascades and got some amazing photos. After making sandwiches and eating them along the way, we finally arrived in Tacoma, WA. Our friends, Mike and Megan, were here to greet us. We went on a nice hour walk, and even saw Mt. Ranier in the distance. After a nice meal of homemade salmon burgers and sweet potato fries, we drove to see the Puget Sound. Again, remarkable!
Tomorrow will be our LAST day (for some time) driving in the lower 48. We board our ferry tomorrow at 3:00, and head out around 6:00 p.m. We pray there will be a spot for us to set up camp on the deck of this lovely vessel, the Columbia. If you notice there are no blogs for a few days, that is because the ship may not have internet access. I will do my best! So you will hear from me either when we arrive on the other side in Hanes, AK, or when we arrive at our new home, Fairbanks, AK. Until then, may God bless your weekend!

Hi! Nice scenery. I really like Idaho's font for their welcome sign. Anyway, Ben can't wait to see photos of the tentt/ferry/boat trip in general. I hope you get some internet time so we can see what it looks like!
ReplyDeleteTalk to you soon!
Oh, Becky & Jason ~ your picts & posts bring back so many wonderful memories! Thank you for sharing your adventure with us!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, that stretch between Spokane and Seattle is quite barren. In fact, many years ago it was referred to as "The Great American Desert"!! We drove that leg many times when our son, Rob ('96), and daughter, Amber ('00), attended Evergreen Lutheran H.S. in Kent/Des Moines, WA.
Thanks for posting your adventures--it reminds me a little bit of when Nick & I were first married and on our own little adventures!! God be with you all the way....
