We made it through our longest day of driving. We woke up around 5:45 a.m. and had a delcious continental breakfast at our hotel. We filled up with gas and cleaned the gazillions of bugs off our car and were on the road by 7:00 a.m. We had ONLY 763 miles to travel today!
We entered Montana at about 8:50 (Mountain time, so really 9:50 our wake-up time). As we traveled to Billings, I was not too impressed with Montana, but then we continued on to Butte, and now the sights were INCREIBLE! We saw about six different mountain ranges, spotted two HUGE bison on the side of the road, and climbed up to 6,000 feet about sea level. We enjoyed a nice picnic lunch of sandwiches, chips, and fruit. We saw two vehicles with Alaskan license plates. We also stopped at a few sights along the way, a huge metal bird thing (don't know the name, but there is a pic below), and Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Our trip continued to go quite smooth for the entire day, and we were glad to make arrive in Missoula, MT around 6:30p.m. After a nice dinner at Famous Daves, it is time for bed. We have another early day tomorrow as we head to Seattle, Washington! We are very blessed to be able to stay with friends out there for the night. We thank the Lord for his continued care throughout our journey.
I promised a few more facts from the SURVIVE ALASKA books, so here they are:
"You know you're an Alaskan if . . ."
1. You do all your shopping online.
2. You buy your groceries 2 months at a time.
3. You have duct tape on at least one article of clothing.
4. You're tan from the waist down.
5. You don't wear a coat if it's 20 degrees or warmer.
God bless!
Metal bird eye thingy
Yay for shopping online and duct tape! Alaska sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it soulds like you're making awesome time. I'm sure those two bison you saw weren't nearly as scary after you braved the world's largest bison two days ago.
Have fun in Seattle. Be sure to go to the first Starbucks ever!
Love you both!
