Today was a very different day than the previous. We were able to actually stop at three different ports, and see the towns. We were only at each for about 30 minutes (Ketchikan for an hour and a half), so we walked very quickly and took a lot of pictures.
In Ketchikan, we saw 4 different cruise ships and many gift/souvenir shops. We saw so many of the planes that land on the water. I took a few too many pictures of these. On our walk back, we went to Safeway and bought a few more things to get us through our next two days. Once back on the ship we ate sandwiches one last time, and then took a nice hour and a half nap in our tent; it was wonderful! In Wrangell we walked for just a bit and then headed back to clean out our car. There was a yoga class that some guy on the boat was leading just for fun, and I almost joined in. Just not so sure about the 50 some others watching! Our last port was Petersburg. This has to be my favorite stop today. The views are indescribable (pictures below). We found an eagle that was up in a tree, and I took about 50 close up pictures. Jason thinks I took too many! The harbor had some gorgeous backdrops of snowcapped mountains! After our quick 30 minutes, we got back on the boat and headed out towards Juneau. As we started out, we saw two buoys full of sea lions. WOW! Then about an hour later we saw some orcas just above the water. I want one to jump out of the water like Free Willy! We should arrive in Juneau at 4:45 a.m. tomorrow morning. So the plan is to wake up at 4:30 a.m. and go see the city. We should have about 2 hours there which will give us plenty of time to walk; walk quickly.
Goodnight.
Fun in Ketchikan!!!
Our ship
Ton of neat water planes
Petersburg - just a cute town right at the base of a mountain
The eagle I took about 50 pics of. But look, one of them turned out great!
Trying to be a professional.
Sea lions
Nice! I love the Alaskan Pirate pictures. Also, Becky, the "water planes" are called sea planes. I learned that from Indiana Jones.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures make me want to hop on a plane and join you- love them! You're a great photographer!
